Cleaning your bathroom is one of those chores that a lot of us loathe to do, but without regular cleaning we all know it quickly builds up becoming grubby and the perfect place for bacteria, mould and more.

Why Should you deep clean your bathroom?
Bacteria such  as Streptococcus, Campylobacter and Escherichia Coli (E.Coli) can lurk in many bathrooms and can cause painful symptoms such as stomach cramps, nausea, diarrhea and vomiting, so its important to clean all areas of your bathroom regularly.
A recent report by Mintel found that multipurpose cleaning fluids are the most commonly used bathroom cleaner by the British public. Always read the label on your chosen product and follow instructions:  Always test a small area to check its suitable on your bathroom surfaces.

Deep cleaning: Here's some simple tips/steps to help towards a healthy, clean bathroom.
  • For best results remove everything from your bathroom so your ready to start cleaning. Such as products inside the shower/bath. Collect all towels, bath mats, face clothes etc. Don't forget freestanding items such as toilet roll holders, bins or clothing baskets.
  • Wash all washable items in washing machine such as towels, shower/bath mats etc. Some shower curtains can also be washed in this way.  This will give your bathroom a fresh feel and remove any smells deep within them.
  • Remove all dust.: Start at the top with the ceiling working your way down to the floor. Remember the light fittings, top of mirrors, cabinets and vents as these can be dust traps. Using a hoover is a perfect way to pull any dust away.
  • Bath/ shower area: Use your chosen cleaning product within the shower/bath area. Its best to avoid aerosol sprays, abrasive cleaners or products containing bleach as these can leave damaging effects to the products.
  • Clean others surfaces: Use your chosen cleaning product with a damp cloth such as a micro-fibre cloth or soft sponge to wipe down shelves, doors, blinds, window sills, towel rails etc. Remember working from the top to the bottom.
  • Rinse down your shower/bath to remove any left over cleaning products away using a non-abrasive cloth or soft sponge. Wipe over shower walls, floors and surfaces before a final rinse with the water.
  • Clean sink: Use your chosen cleaning product and soft cloth/soft sponge in the sink then wipe over with a soft clean cloth. Making sure you remove any stubborn limescale that builds up on taps.
  • Clean Mirror : Use your chosen cleaning product. A solution of white vinegar can leave a sparkly and streak free clean look.
  • Clean the toilet: Use your chosen cleaning product to clean the inside of the toilet, making sure you read the label direction and use for the inside of the bowl. Wipe any splashes immediately to prevent damages. Use the toilet brush to scrub any build up within the bowl before flushing.
  • Clean the floor: Use your chosen cleaning product and tool that suitable for your floor. If using mop or steam mop make sure you read the instruction and follow any advice.  Avoid harsh chemicals such as bleach as this can leave long lasting damage to the floor surface.  Work from the far side of the room towards the door.
  • Replace all items: Clean and wipe down all other items originally taken out of your bathroom at the start such as shampoo bottles etc before placing back into bathroom. Make sure all surfaces including floor are completely dry before placing items such as bath mats.

Now you have a beautiful clean bathroom!
